Bridges

Dental bridges are a valuable treatment option we offer to replace one or more missing teeth. A dental bridge consists of two or more dental crowns connected to the teeth on either side of the gap left by the missing tooth or teeth. These crowns act as anchors for the artificial tooth or teeth placed between them, effectively filling the gap and restoring both appearance and function.

There are several key benefits to dental bridges, which include:

  1. Preventing teeth from shifting out of position: When a tooth is missing, the surrounding teeth may begin to shift or tilt, leading to problems with bite alignment and creating additional gaps that can be challenging to clean. By filling the gap with a bridge, the remaining teeth are held in place, and the patient's bite is restored to its proper alignment.
  2. Improving chewing and speaking abilities: Missing teeth can make it difficult to eat certain foods and may also impact speech. By filling in the gap with a dental bridge, patients can enjoy a more comfortable and functional bite and can speak more clearly and confidently.
  3. Enhancing the appearance of your smile: Dental bridges can be customized to match the color, shape, and size of the patient's natural teeth, resulting in a seamless and aesthetically pleasing smile.
  4. Providing a long-lasting and durable solution: With proper care, a dental bridge can last for many years, offering patients a comfortable and natural-looking solution for missing teeth.

The process of getting a dental bridge at Mi Smile Family Dental typically involves two or more appointments. During the initial appointment, our dental professionals will evaluate your oral health and with you, determine if a dental bridge is the right solution for your needs.

If so, the teeth on either side of the gap will be prepared for the crowns, and impressions of the area will be taken to create a custom-made bridge that fits perfectly. A temporary bridge may be placed to protect the prepared teeth while the permanent bridge is being fabricated.

At the follow-up appointment, the temporary bridge will be removed, and the permanent bridge will be cemented (glued) into place. Our team will make any necessary adjustments to ensure a perfect fit, including your bite, and a natural-looking result.

With proper care, including good oral hygiene and regular dental checkups, your dental bridge can provide you with a beautiful and functional smile for many years.
