Your Time Matters. Your Questions Matter. You Matter.
Many older patients have told us the same thing — that previous dental visits felt rushed, that explanations were brief, that they left with more questions than they walked in with. That is not how we work. Dr. Maddipati personally sees every patient, takes time to explain each step, and is glad to repeat or clarify whenever that's helpful. No rotating associates. No second-class appointment slots. Just steady, attentive care.
Understanding Your Coverage
Original Medicare vs. Medicare Advantage — What Covers Dental?
This is the single most common point of confusion for new patients. The short version: Original Medicare (Parts A and B) does not cover most routine dental care.¹Medicare Advantage plans (Part C) often include a dental benefit³ — and those benefits are what we work with here.
Original Medicare (Parts A & B)
Generally does not cover routine dental care — cleanings, fillings, crowns, or dentures.¹ Dental services may be covered only when directly connected to a covered medical procedure.² If this is all you have, most dental costs will be out-of-pocket — but we offer CareCredit and Sunbit financing to help manage those costs.
Medicare Advantage (Part C)
Offered by private insurers, these plans often include a dental benefit. In 2026, more than 98% of individual Medicare Advantage plans offer some dental benefit.³ Coverage varies widely between plans and years, but may include preventive cleanings, exams, X-rays, fillings, extractions, and in some cases crowns, dentures, or partials. We accept major Medicare Advantage carriers and verify your specific plan benefits before your visit.
Medicare Advantage dental benefits differ by plan and by year. Annual maximums, covered services, and copays vary. We verify your individual plan before each appointment and tell you what's covered before treatment begins.
Typical Coverage
What Medicare Advantage Dental Plans Typically Cover
Every plan is different — the list below reflects services commonly included. We confirm your specific coverage before your visit.
Preventive Exams
Routine check-ups and X-rays, often at two visits per year.
Cleanings
Standard cleanings (prophylaxis), usually twice a year for eligible patients.
Basic Restorations
Fillings and simple extractions — coverage and copay depend on plan.
Major Services
Crowns, bridges, dentures, and partials may be covered with higher copays.
Periodontal Care
Deep cleanings (scaling and root planing) for gum disease — often covered.
Emergency Visits
Emergency exams and treatment for dental pain — typically covered.
About annual maximums: Most Medicare Advantage dental plans have an annual benefit cap. Research from KFF found the average annual limit on more extensive dental coverage was approximately $1,300, with over half of enrollees in plans capped at $1,000 or less.⁴ If treatment exceeds your plan's maximum, we walk through options including CareCredit, Sunbit, and splitting treatment across two benefit years when clinically appropriate.
The Process
How It Works — Before Your First Visit
1
Call 832-779-5522
Tell us your Medicare Advantage plan name and member ID. We look up your dental benefit and confirm coverage before you come in.
2
We verify your specific benefits
Medicare Advantage dental benefits change each year and differ between carriers. We verify your plan's covered services, annual maximum, and any required copays — and share that with you before scheduling.
3
Your appointment is scheduled
Same scheduling process as every other patient. If mobility or transportation is a concern, let us know — we'll work with you on timing and accessibility.
4
A conversation before treatment starts
Dr. Maddipati explains each finding and each recommended step — what it involves, what your plan covers, and what your out-of-pocket portion (if any) will be. No pressure to decide on the spot.
Common Questions About Medicare Dental Coverage
Coverage details depend on your specific Medicare Advantage plan. We verify your individual benefits before every appointment.
Original Medicare (Parts A and B) generally does not cover routine dental care such as cleanings, fillings, crowns, or dentures.¹ Medicare Advantage plans (Part C) — offered by private insurers — often include a dental benefit.³ If you have a Medicare Advantage plan with dental coverage, we welcome it. Call us with your plan name and we'll verify what's covered for you.
We accept major Medicare Advantage dental plans. Rather than listing specific carriers (because participation and plan details change year to year), please call 832-779-5522 with the plan name on your member ID card. We verify coverage directly with your carrier and confirm before your appointment.
Most Medicare Advantage plans that include dental cover two cleanings per year (one every six months) at little or no out-of-pocket cost. Some plans cover additional cleanings if you have a history of periodontal disease. We confirm your specific plan's cleaning frequency when we verify benefits.
Many plans include denture coverage (full or partial) as a major service, usually with a copay and subject to the plan's annual maximum. Dental implant placement is rarely covered in full — however, some plans cover portions of the restoration (the crown that attaches to the implant). We place the restorative crown on implants placed elsewhere; we do not do surgical implant placement in our office. Coverage varies, so we verify before treatment.
If your recommended treatment exceeds your annual dental benefit, we review options with you. Sometimes that means CareCredit or Sunbit financing to spread payment across months. Sometimes it means splitting treatment across two benefit years when clinically appropriate. You are not pressured to decide at the visit — we give you the numbers and time to think it through.
Yes. We see dual-eligible patients (sometimes called "Medi-Medi"). Coordinating Medicare and Medicaid benefits for dental care can get complicated — we handle the verification and explain which plan covers what. You'll never be surprised with a bill you weren't expecting.
Your Medicare Advantage plan card (or Original Medicare card if that's what you have), a photo ID, and a list of any medications you currently take — especially blood thinners, bone-density medications, and anything that affects bleeding or healing. If you have a primary care physician, their name is helpful for coordination. If you're unsure about anything, just come as you are — we'll fill in the rest at check-in.
